Crisp Molasses Cookies


I made these yummy cookies today.  I have had this recipe since 1978 and it is one of my favorites, especially in the fall and winter.  These go great with coffee and tea.  Give them a try and let me know if you like them.

Crisp Molasses Cookies

Mix together:
       1 C. sugar
       1/2 C. shortening
       1/4 C. butter
       1/4 C. molasses

Add:
        1 egg

Mix together and add to creamed sugar:
        1 tsp. ginger
        1/2 tsp. ground clove
        1 tsp. cinnamon
        1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
        1 tsp. baking powder
        1/2 tsp. salt
        2 C. flour

Roll in small balls and flatten with a glass dipped in sugar.  Bake at 325 deg. about 11 minutes.  Do not undercook. Enjoy!
